The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) program at Angelina College provides students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to excel in the healthcare field as entry-level nurses. This program likely combines classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory simulations, and invaluable clinical experiences to offer a comprehensive learning journey. Students will learn fundamental nursing principles, medical-surgical nursing, maternal-newborn nursing, pediatric nursing, and geriatric nursing, preparing them to care for patients across the lifespan. The curriculum typically covers anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, nutrition, and mental health, as well as ethical and legal considerations in nursing. The clinical component gives students the chance to apply their knowledge and skills in real-world healthcare settings such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, and clinics in and around Lufkin, Texas. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN), and after passing, they become licensed Vocational Nurses, prepared to provide competent and compassionate care under the direction of registered nurses or physicians. Typical program length is usually 12-18 months.
