The LVN program at Tyler Junior College prepares students for a rewarding career as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). The program is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and clinical experience necessary to provide safe and effective patient care. Students will learn about a variety of topics, including anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, pediatrics, and geriatrics. A significant portion of the curriculum is dedicated to hands-on clinical experience in local hospitals, nursing homes, and other healthcare facilities. This real-world training allows students to apply their classroom learning and develop critical thinking skills. Expect the LVN program to be approximately 12-18 months in length, upon successful completion, graduates are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-PN examination. Upon passing the NCLEX-PN, graduates can pursue career opportunities in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, physician’s offices, and home health agencies, providing essential nursing care to patients of all ages.
