The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) program at Lamar State College-Orange is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and clinical experience necessary to provide competent and compassionate patient care. Typically completed in 12-15 months, the program combines classroom instruction, laboratory practice, and extensive clinical rotations to prepare students for a rewarding career in nursing. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, maternal-newborn nursing, pediatric nursing, and gerontology. Students gain hands-on experience in a simulated hospital environment using state-of-the-art equipment and mannequins. They also participate in clinical rotations at local healthcare facilities, working under the supervision of experienced nurses and physicians. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). Passing this exam allows them to become licensed LVNs, qualified to work in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and home health agencies.
