The LPN program at Putnam Career and Technical Center provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel as Licensed Practical Nurses. The program typically covers essential nursing concepts, including anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, maternal-child health, and geriatrics. Students will learn to administer medications, provide basic patient care, monitor vital signs, and assist physicians and registered nurses with various medical procedures. A significant portion of the program is dedicated to hands-on clinical experience in diverse healthcare settings, such as hospitals, nursing homes, and clinics. Students will gain real-world experience applying their knowledge and developing essential clinical skills under the supervision of experienced healthcare professionals. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-PN examination. Passing the NCLEX-PN exam allows the graduate to become a Licensed Practical Nurse and pursue a rewarding career in healthcare, offering direct patient care and working collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team. The LPN licensure also presents career advancement opportunities, such as becoming an RN.
