The LPN program at Wilson Community College prepares students for a rewarding career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. This comprehensive program combines classroom instruction with hands-on clinical experiences to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide quality patient care. Over approximately 12-18 months, students will learn fundamental nursing concepts, including anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, and maternal-child health. A strong emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking, communication, and patient assessment skills. The program includes extensive clinical rotations in diverse healthcare settings, such as hospitals, nursing homes, and clinics, allowing students to apply their knowledge under the supervision of experienced nurses. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN examination, and upon successful completion, they can embark on careers as LPNs, providing essential nursing care to patients in various healthcare settings. Many LPNs use this as a stepping stone towards becoming Registered Nurses.
