The LPN program at College of Southern Maryland prepares students for a rewarding career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. This program typically combines classroom instruction, laboratory practice, and clinical experiences to provide a well-rounded education. Students will learn essential nursing skills, including administering medications, wound care, monitoring vital signs, and providing basic patient care. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, such as anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, and geriatric care. Clinical rotations take place in diverse healthcare settings, allowing students to gain hands-on experience and apply their knowledge in real-world situations. Upon successful completion of the program and passing the NCLEX-PN exam, graduates are eligible to work as LPNs in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, home healthcare agencies, and other healthcare facilities. The LPN program can also serve as a stepping stone for those who wish to further their education and become Registered Nurses through bridge programs.
