The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program at Pinellas Technical College-Clearwater equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide basic nursing care to patients under the direction of registered nurses and physicians. The curriculum is designed to provide a strong foundation in nursing fundamentals, covering topics such as anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, and geriatric care. Students gain practical experience through hands-on laboratory simulations and clinical rotations in local healthcare facilities, including hospitals, nursing homes, and clinics. These clinical experiences allow students to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings and develop essential skills in patient assessment, medication administration, wound care, and communication. Typically, the program can be completed in approximately 12 to 18 months. Upon successful completion of the program and passing the NCLEX-PN examination, graduates are eligible to work as Licensed Practical Nurses in a variety of healthcare settings, providing direct patient care and contributing to the overall healthcare team. Graduates of Pinellas Technical College’s LPN program are well-prepared to meet the growing demand for skilled and compassionate healthcare professionals in the Clearwater area and beyond.
