The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) program at University of Antelope Valley (UAV) is designed to prepare students for a rewarding career in direct patient care. This comprehensive program combines classroom instruction with hands-on clinical experiences to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide safe and effective nursing care. Students will learn fundamental nursing principles, medication administration, wound care, patient assessment, and other essential skills. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including medical-surgical nursing, geriatrics, pediatrics, maternal-newborn nursing, and mental health. Clinical rotations take place at various healthcare facilities in the Antelope Valley region, giving students valuable real-world experience. The duration of the LVN program is typically around 12-18 months, culminating in eligibility to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). Upon successful completion of the NCLEX-PN, graduates can pursue careers as LVNs in hospitals, clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and other healthcare settings, working under the supervision of registered nurses or physicians.
