The LPN program at Everett Community College prepares students for a rewarding career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. This program typically lasts about one year, and focuses on providing students with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide safe and effective patient care under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians. Students learn how to administer medications, monitor vital signs, assist with daily living activities, provide wound care, and educate patients and families. The curriculum incorporates classroom instruction, laboratory practice, and extensive clinical rotations in various healthcare settings. These settings often include hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, clinics, and home healthcare agencies, providing students with diverse real-world experiences. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). Passing this exam allows graduates to become licensed as an LPN and pursue careers providing direct patient care, working as part of interprofessional healthcare teams. The LPN program may also provide a foundation for further nursing education, such as pursuing an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) to become a Registered Nurse (RN).
