The Practical Nursing (LPN) program at Paul D Camp Community College is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to provide competent and compassionate nursing care. This program combines classroom instruction with hands-on clinical experience to prepare graduates for a rewarding career as a licensed practical nurse. Typically lasting around one year, the program covers a broad range of topics including basic nursing skills, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, maternal-child health, and mental health nursing. Students will participate in clinical rotations at various healthcare facilities, providing them with invaluable experience in real-world settings. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN). Earning a passing score results in licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse. LPNs work under the direction of registered nurses and physicians in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and other healthcare facilities, providing direct patient care, administering medications, and educating patients and families.
