The LPN program at Central Oklahoma College is designed to prepare students for a rewarding career as Licensed Practical Nurses. This comprehensive program typically lasts around 12-18 months and provides students with a strong foundation in nursing principles, patient care skills, and medical knowledge. Students will learn how to assess patients, administer medications, provide wound care, assist with medical procedures, and educate patients and their families. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, and mental health. A significant portion of the program is dedicated to hands-on clinical experiences in various healthcare settings, allowing students to apply their knowledge under the guidance of experienced nurses. Graduates of the LPN program will be eligible to take the NCLEX-PN examination, and upon passing, will be licensed to practice as an LPN in Oklahoma. Career opportunities for LPNs include working in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, physician’s offices, and home healthcare settings.
