The LPN program at Isothermal Community College is designed to prepare students for a rewarding career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). This comprehensive program provides a solid foundation in nursing principles and clinical skills. Students will learn to provide basic nursing care, administer medications, assist physicians and registered nurses, and educate patients and families. The curriculum typically covers a range of topics, including anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, maternal-newborn nursing, and pediatric nursing. A significant portion of the program involves hands-on clinical experiences in various healthcare settings. These experiences allow students to apply their knowledge and develop the practical skills necessary to provide safe and effective patient care. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). Successful completion of the NCLEX-PN exam leads to licensure as an LPN and opportunities for employment in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, and other healthcare facilities. The LPN program at Isothermal Community College aims to equip graduates with the knowledge, skills, and professional qualities to succeed as competent and compassionate LPNs.
