The LPN program at St Charles Community College is designed to prepare students for a rewarding career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. The curriculum integrates classroom instruction with hands-on clinical experience, providing students with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide safe and effective patient care. Students can expect to learn essential nursing concepts, including medication administration, wound care, vital sign monitoring, and patient assessment. The program typically takes one to two years to complete, depending on whether it is a full-time or part-time program. Upon successful completion of the program and passing the NCLEX-PN exam, graduates are eligible to work as LPNs in various healthcare settings, such as hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, and home healthcare agencies. Furthermore, many LPNs choose to further their education by pursuing an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) to become Registered Nurses (RNs), and this program gives students the foundation for that transition.
