The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program at Southeastern Community College is designed to prepare students for a rewarding career in healthcare. This program combines classroom instruction with hands-on clinical experiences to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and critical thinking abilities necessary to provide safe and effective patient care. The curriculum typically covers a wide range of topics, including anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, maternal-child health, and mental health. Students will learn essential nursing skills such as administering medications, wound care, vital sign monitoring, and patient education. The program generally lasts approximately 12-18 months. Clinical rotations take place in various healthcare settings, providing students with exposure to diverse patient populations and healthcare environments. Upon successful completion of the program and passing the NCLEX-PN examination, graduates are eligible to work as Licensed Practical Nurses in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, home health agencies, and other healthcare facilities. Furthermore, SCC may offer pathways or agreements for LPNs to pursue further education toward becoming a Registered Nurse.
