The LPN program at Kapiolani Community College (KCC) is designed to prepare students for a rewarding career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. The program typically lasts approximately 12-18 months and provides a comprehensive foundation in nursing principles and practices. Students will learn essential skills such as administering medications, wound care, vital sign monitoring, and assisting patients with activities of daily living. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including anatomy and physiology, medical-surgical nursing, maternal-child health, pharmacology, and geriatrics. A significant portion of the program is dedicated to clinical experiences, where students gain hands-on experience in various healthcare settings, such as hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities. These clinical rotations provide invaluable opportunities to apply learned concepts and develop critical thinking skills under the supervision of experienced nurses. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN examination to become licensed as an LPN and pursue entry-level positions in the healthcare field. Furthermore, the KCC LPN program provides a solid pathway for those who aspire to further their education and become Registered Nurses.
