The LPN program at Pinellas Technical College-St. Petersburg is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become competent and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurses. Students will learn essential nursing procedures, including medication administration, wound care, vital signs assessment, and patient monitoring. The curriculum emphasizes a strong foundation in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and medical-surgical nursing. A significant component of the program involves clinical rotations at various healthcare facilities in the St. Petersburg area, providing students with valuable hands-on experience working alongside experienced nurses. Typically, the LPN program lasts approximately 12-18 months. Upon graduation and successful completion of the NCLEX-PN exam, graduates will be prepared to pursue entry-level positions as LPNs in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, home healthcare agencies, and physician’s offices. Furthermore, the LPN license can serve as a stepping stone for aspiring nurses to advance their careers by pursuing further education to become Registered Nurses.
