The Practical Nursing (LPN) program at Arkansas State University-Beebe is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide competent and compassionate nursing care. This program generally lasts around 12-18 months, covering essential topics such as anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, pediatric nursing, and geriatric care. Students will learn how to administer medications, perform basic nursing procedures, assist physicians and registered nurses, and educate patients and their families. A significant component of the program involves clinical rotations in various healthcare settings, providing hands-on experience in applying learned concepts to real-world patient care scenarios. Upon successful completion of the program and passing the NCLEX-PN examination, graduates will be eligible to work as Licensed Practical Nurses in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, home health agencies, and other healthcare facilities. The LPN license also serves as a solid foundation for those aspiring to further their nursing education and pursue a career as a Registered Nurse through LPN-to-RN bridge programs. ASU-Beebe’s LPN program is expected to be approved by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing.
