Eastern Arizona College’s LPN program prepares individuals for a rewarding career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. This comprehensive program is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and clinical experience necessary to provide safe and effective patient care. The curriculum typically covers a wide range of nursing topics, including basic nursing concepts, medical-surgical nursing, maternal-child nursing, pharmacology, and mental health. Students will learn to perform essential nursing tasks such as administering medications, taking vital signs, assisting with patient care activities, and documenting patient information. The program usually includes classroom instruction, laboratory simulations, and clinical rotations in various healthcare settings. Clinical rotations provide valuable hands-on experience under the supervision of experienced nurses. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-PN examination. Passing the NCLEX-PN examination allows graduates to obtain licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse and pursue entry-level nursing positions in hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and other healthcare settings. Furthermore, the LPN program can serve as a strong foundation for further nursing education, such as pursuing an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). The duration of an LPN program is typically between 12 and 18 months.
