College of the Desert’s Vocational Nursing (VN/LVN) program is a comprehensive, full-time program designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel as Licensed Vocational Nurses. This intensive 12-month curriculum, approved by the BVNPT, combines classroom learning with hands-on clinical experience, ensuring students can effectively apply nursing theory to practical situations. Students gain expertise in data collection, care planning and implementation, medication administration, and maintaining safe patient environments. The program emphasizes a student-centered approach and features approximately 34 hours of weekly instruction and clinical practice. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates become eligible to take the NCLEX-PN examination, paving the way for a rewarding career as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in California.
